About Me
While ministry is my vocational calling, there is a lot more to my life than the ministry that I do. God has put me in so many great places and given me such a wide variety of interests that I am able to meet and connect with people from all sorts of backgrounds. I have seen God use these opportunities for the Kingdom time and time again.
I was born and raised around Columbia, South Carolina, where I grew up, went to college, and have worked for many years. Most of my family lives around SC, and I am a lifelong fan of the University of South Carolina. While ministry may take me to many places, the Palmetto State will always be home and Gamecock football will always be on my mind.
I married my wife Maddie in 2017 after many years of dating. We were high school sweethearts, but we certainly took our time after high school to become husband and wife. Maddie and I have two cats, Sophie and Lettie, and a dog, Willow, who keep our house lively. At home, I enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking, in the woodshop working on a project, or around the table playing a board game.
We are always up for adventures outside of the house. Maddie and I have been blessed with great families and a fantastic group of friends that make it easy to be around others in community. Something as simple as spending time with those people in restaurants or living rooms can make for a wonderful use of time. Maddie and I love a good adventure, and many times that takes the form of a day trip. A blessing of South Carolina is that we are a short trip from the beach or the mountains, and day trips can easily take us to Charleston, Charlotte, Asheville, or Atlanta. There’s always something new to find, and a new adventure to have.
I love nothing more than a good cup of coffee, whether that means brewing it at home or visiting a local cafe. A comfortable chair and a good cup of coffee in the right cafe is all I need to fill a day. I can sit there for hours reading, people-watching, listening to music or podcasts, and meeting new people. That is my natural environment. I am a foodie, and that means I’m always looking for a new recipe or a new restaurant to try. But it’s not only about the food. There is something magical that happens when people gather around a table to share a meal, and being part of those moments are special to me.
Many of my hobbies and interests tie back to my love of stories. I will always spend my time on a good story. Whether it’s in movies, books, music, tabletop games, podcast, or anything else, there is beauty in a story. That same beauty of stories is also found in unexpected places. A good meal has a story. A walk through a new place has a story. Every interaction or moment has a story if we are willing to hear it.
